Afzel SCHERAZI

Afzel Scherazi

Born in Lahore, Pakistan, in 1965, Afzel is a distinguished mountaineer, instructor, and adventure‑tourism consultant, as well as a career bureaucrat in the Punjab Management Service. Over the course of more than three decades, he has built an exceptional record in Himalayan mountaineering, combining extensive trekking and climbing experience with a deep commitment to training the next generation of alpinists.

Afzel has taught Alpine Mountaineering courses for a wide range of organisations in Pakistan, Italy, Afghanistan, and Tajikistan. His 35 years of Himalayan experience have made him a respected figure in both national and international mountain communities.

He serves as an international guarantor for Mountain Wilderness International and is the President of its Pakistan Chapter. In addition, he holds the position of Senior Vice President of the Punjab Winter Sports Federation, reflecting his broader engagement with outdoor sports and environmental stewardship.

Beyond his mountaineering and institutional roles, Afzel is an accomplished writer. He has authored nine books to date and contributed numerous articles to various periodicals and newspapers, sharing his knowledge, experience, and passion for the mountains with a wide readership.
