Jordi QUERA

Born in Barcelona, Catalonia, in 1964, Jordi graduated in Humanities and holds a degree in Social Education and Graphic Arts. He manages companies in the graphic and publishing sector and is a climbing, speleo and ski touring instructor. He divides his life between the city and the Pyrenees (Peramola, Alt Urgell).

Jordi is an allround mountaineer, climber, speleologist, skier, hiker and has climbed mountains in the Himalayas, Pamir, Andes (Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, etc.), Kilimanjaro, Elbrus (Caucasus), Taurus, Atlas, Alps, Pyrenees.

He belongs to a family with a long mountaineering history and tradition and has written 8 books on mountain topics as well as many articles, where he often expresses his opinions in a resolute and colourful manner. He has been taking part in several publishing projects (as book consultant, publisher and magazine collaborator).

Jordi has a strong connection with Catalan mountain huts: he is a member of the Centre Excursionista de Catalunya, the oldest Catalan Alpine Club, and other alpine clubs like the Centre Excursionista d’Esplugues and the Club Excursionista de Gràcia, he has chaired GEDE (a climbing team) and is one of the founders of AEPR (youth scouting organisation involved in mountain activities).

He was President of Mountain Wilderness International from 2010 to 2024 and has been a guarantor since 2008.
