Girls in Action 2025

Girls in Action 2025 is a humanitarian mountaineering project dedicated to women (you may remember the all-women training held in 2024), which will take place in the Hindu Kush (Pakistan) in September 2025. This is the first edition of the training we are holding after signing the Memorandum of Understanding with Pakistan.

As in 2024, an all-women team of six Italian instructors will guide 24 Pakistani young women to discover the mountains through lessons in rock climbing and glacier progression, overnight stays in tented camps as well as compass and map orientation. Particular attention will be paid to health in mountain environments and first aid lessons.

The project promotes women’s empowerment, environmental awareness and respect for the mountains. One of the most enriching elements of the training will be the cultural exchange between instructors and trainees—a bond that will grow organically through shared experiences, mutual respect, and a spirit of collaboration

The two-week training is organised by Mountain Wilderness International, whose focus is promoting the conservation and protection of mountainous areas worldwide. The project aims at training future local guides, protected area rangers and environmental educators.

In addition to opening up valuable career opportunities, the training will help to open up new and, in many ways, innovative prospects for young women who are too often relegated to subordinate and marginal roles by social and pseudo-religious conventions.

Since we had to overcome many organisational difficulties due to the recent floods and were forced to change routes and logistics three times, costs have increased significantly.
