Gotlind BLECHSCHMIDT – Vice President

Gotlind Blechschmidt

“I became fascinated by mountains already as a child, during my holidays in the mountains with my family. High altitude tours in the Alps, trekking trips in non-European mountains and my studies of geography with a dissertation on soil erosion on pastures in the Karwendel mountains later made me aware of the threats to the Alpine natural and cultural heritage. I am particularly concerned about the devastating impact of climate change in the Alps. Mountain Wilderness tries to strike a balance between nature conservation, mountaineering and tourism – and I am glad I can help. As Vice President of Mountain Wilderness International, I am the contact person for MW national chapters. I live in Augsburg and work as a lecturer and freelance journalist.”
