Anouk SCHARNHOLZ – Secretary General

I grew up between the Vosges and Black Forest mountains, and I was often hiking and enjoying outdoor activities with my parents. At the age of 8, I had my first trekking experience in the Pyrenees, and since then, you can find me trekking, hiking, climbing in the mountains every chance I get.

Fascinated by nature since I was a kid, I naturally chose to study biology and later specialised in ecology. I also had the chance to travel for my studies, completing them in the Netherlands (too flat for me!) and Norway (ah, that’s better!), where I still live today.

With my background in ecology and my love for the mountains, it felt only natural to start volunteering for Mountain Wilderness in 2022, and I have been very active ever since. Over the last three years, I have been on the Conseil d’Administration at MW France while representing MW France on the international Governing Board. As newly elected Secretary General I am now excited to focus even more on MW International!
