Carlo Alberto PINELLI

Carlo Alberto, known as Betto, was born in Turin in 1935 and is one of the founding fathers of a mountaineering movement that has made environmental protection its raison d’être. A fellow of the Italian Alpine Academic Club (CAAI), film director, writer, distinguished intellectual and president of the Italian chapter of Mountain Wilderness for several terms, over the years Betto has conceived, organised and coordinated numerous large-scale environmental conservation projects, from Mont Blanc to the Himalayas, receiving significant honours. He is Honorary President and International Guarantor of Mountain Wilderness International and in charge of its Asian operations (Asian Desk).
